Puppy Raising
Pups at Wildmeadow are raised in home with early socialization, science-based nutrition and veterinary care.
I use Avidog and Puppy Culture protocols as well as early neurological stimulation and early scent introduction. Pups are exposed to age appropriate socialization to build confidence with scents, sights, sounds, textures, people, and other animals. I introduce the basics of positive reinforcement training, recall, crate training, loose leash walking, car manners, and more.
Vaccinations are veterinarian administered, and pups have at least one veterinary physical examination prior to going to new homes. Pups are dewormed per Avidog protocol.
I do not place first-come, first-served! Puppies are matched to best home based on structure and temperament and go home no sooner than 10 weeks. **I require a face-to-face meeting with all my puppy owners at or prior to pick up. At this time I do not ship puppies.**
Pups are registered with International Silken Windhound Society (ISWS) and the United Kennel Club (UKC), Embark tested, and microchipped prior to going to new home. White (spsp) pups are BAER tested for hearing.
Breeding Ethics
Health and welfare of my breeding dogs and the pups I produce is a priority. All planned litters are pending OFA health clearances and good physical condition of sire and dam. I work with a veterinarian for routine care of all of my animals as well as for canine reproductive services.
I do not ever want a puppy from my program to end up in a shelter or a bad situation. In the event that a home can no longer keep one of the dogs from my program, I contractually require that this dog is either returned to me or that I am involved in placement.
Applications & Waitlist
Puppy applications are currently CLOSED. I will open applications for a litter when a litter is confirmed, typically by x-ray, and will announce on my Facebook group as well as my website when applications open.
I do not keep a waitlist, but instead, evaluate homes and match the right puppy with the right home as pups mature. I find that so much can change with prospective homes between the time of first reaching out to a breeder and when we’re ready to add a puppy to our home, so this system works the best for me. You are of course welcome to reach out to me anytime to ask questions about my breeding program!
